Inverter [VFD]

The term Inverter refers to Variable-frequency drive (VFD) and is a type of adjustable speed drive used in elecrto-mechanical drive systems to control AC motor speed and torque. It works by varying the motor input frequency and voltage.

Inverter driven overhead cranes have several key benefits:

  • Inverters keep the load on an overhead crane from swinging
  • Provide smooth acceleration and deceleration
  • Control the descendent speed
  • Detect overload
  • Enables the possibility of multiple speed settings
